Palmeraie House Guesthouse Tinghir
There are 6 guestrooms in total.
Three are located in the original house, and due to traditional building methods remain cool throughout the summer. These open onto the grape arbour, a delightful shady spot, particularly lovely during the heat of the day.
Three are purpose built in the style of the Berber house, with traditional mud and straw cladding and reusing the original windows, they blend in perfectly. These rooms are on the garden terrace, overlooked by the rose blooms, and have their own private en-suite facilities.
The rates for our accommodation are very reasonable, and vary depending upon seasons. Rates are 100 dirhams - 250 dirhams. To convert this to your local currency, please click here.
The guesthouse is a typical Berber home.We have renovated and furnished the house to retain its original character. The fortress-like appearance of the house with its thick mud walls is designed to keep the interior cool in summer and warm in winter. The many small low windows serve the same purpose.
The Todra Gorge (10km) with almost sheer cliffs rising to 300m on either side of the river is definitely a sight to see. As the sun reaches into the gorge the rock face appears as shades of rosy pink and darker hues. Here there is an opportunity for walking, trekking and climbing. Beyond the gorge the road heads north into the High Atlas. This area is rich in its variety of geological formations.
A 3 hour drive from Tinghir will bring you to the exotic and fascinating world of the Sahara. To watch the setting sun take a camel ride to the top of the dunes. A longer camel ride will take you into the desert where you can spend the night, sleeping under the stars or in a Berber tent.

"At Palmeraie House I was made to feel truly welcome by Doreen and Rachid. In their guesthouse I enjoyed a taste of Berber life while also enjoying the comfort of modern amenities. I found Palmeraie House to be the perfect base for exploring the surrounding area including the Todra Gorge, the Palmeraie and old Kasbah, and the markets of Tinghir." C.D, Rugby, UK
